A 17-year-old has posted a video alleging that he was sexually harassed while travelling on a Rapido bike taxi in Uttar Pradesh. Following widespread outrage online, Rapido issued a statement confirming that the driver involved has been "permanently barred" from the platform. In a conversation with Hindustantimes.com, the teen shared details about the terrifying incident and how Rapido responded.
What does the video show?
The video shows the teen riding pillion, and the driver suddenly putting his hand behind him, reaching towards the passenger.

Instantly, the teen removes the man’s hand. He then tries touching his leg and thigh. The teen shared the video on Instagram, tagging Rapido, and a caption that read “Minor btw”.
The teen recalled that the incident occurred at Civil Lines, a neighbourhood of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
What did Rapido say?
The first message the company shared read, “Hi Kushh, we are truly concerned to learn about this from you. We take cognizance of this matter with utmost seriousness, and any such conduct is completely unacceptable. To take immediate action, we request you to please share the ride ID and your registered mobile number with us via DM.”

As discussed over the call, please know that we have taken this matter seriously and the reported captain has been permanently barred from the platform. Behaviour that compromises a customer’s sense of safety or respect is simply not acceptable to us. We truly value your trust, and we’ll continue to do everything we can to ensure our platform remains a safe and respectful space for everyone. If you need any further support, we’re just a DM away. “
While talking about Rapido’s response, he told Hindustantimes.com, “They said they have sued him, but they have not given me any proof of it.”
However, later, he shared an Instagram Stories thanking the company. “Guys, the Rapido team has taken the action. Thank you so much for your support! @rapidoapp tysm for taking immediate action.”
Did he report the driver?
The teen shared that he didn’t and added, “I have not told my family yet.”
Teen shuts down social media trolls:
While most showed their support for the teen and shared words of encouragement, a few were quick to judge him and make derogatory remarks. Some also questioned the authenticity of his allegations.
Addressing those who criticised him, the 17-year-old said, “Hate is not good. I am sad about it. I hope they realise it’s not abt gender, it’s abt human safety and child safety too!”
