After some time, I will do saas-bahu shows: Prince Narula

Promos of the upcoming sitcom Badho Bahu show a fat girl being married to a man who is clearly not happy with the marriage. The plot is similar to Ayushmann Khuranna-Bhumi Pednekar’s hit film Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Prince Narula, who plays the lead in Badho Bahu, however, claims it is not inspired by the 2015 film. And he is not averse to acting in a saas-bahu serial one day.

With saas-bahu genre still ruling the roost in television serial charts, you cannot ignore them if you are in the industry. At least reality TV star Prince Narula, who is set for his acting debut with Badho Bahu, has no hang-ups about the genre, but says he won’t be acting in such a serial soon.

After you won Bigg Boss 9 last year, you said you want to be a ‘talented actor’. Did you work on your acting skills before signing up for Badho Bahu?
I attended workshops but nobody can teach acting. You either have the talent, or you don’t.

Going by the promos, your TV acting debut show encashes on your public image - the Prince we have already seen on reality shows like MTV Roadies and Bigg Boss.
Yes, my character encashes on my image but Badho Bahu will also show me in a different light. There are many phases that I cross in the course of the show.

Was there something specific that made you go for the show or was it the first one to come your way?
Badho Bahu is a different and new concept, which is why I chose to debut with the project. Also, after Sultan I get to play a wrestler and that’s big. Right now I need to focus on kind of roles suitable for my age. I can’t do saas-bahu shows right now.

When you say ‘not now’, do you mean you will do such shows after maybe 3-4 years or do you never want to be part of such shows?
Maybe after sometime I will do saas-bahu shows, but not now.

Are you still in contact with your friends from Bigg Boss house?
Yes, I meet Suyyash (Rai) and Kishwar (Merchant). In fact, we meet twice or thrice a week. I also keep meeting Yuvika (Chaudhary).

When inside the Bigg Boss house, Prince flirted with Nora and Yuvika.

Sounds interesting. Are you dating her?
No, no. We are not dating. She happens to live near my place and we end up meeting almost every day.
