Prince Narula, the winner of Bigg Boss 9, was always a strong contender for the title of the ninth season of the reality show. That he pipped two other fan favourites -- Mandana Karimi and Rishabh Sinha -- on Saturday with his vote share, didn’t really come as a big surprise.
Remember the flutter he created even before entering Bigg Boss’ house? Braveen Narula, better known as Prince, was the talk of the town when not a single fellow contestant agreed to go in with him as their partner. Their reason? Most of them said they were put off by his irritating attitude.
Prince didn’t make things any easy for himself with an ‘introduction’ speech: It reeked of his pompous personality! He was rude, crass, and over-confident from the word go. For the fans of the show, however, it was a masterstroke: Prince’s ‘I-don’t-give-a-damn-attitude’ was endearing, and his fanbase continued to keep him safe in the show for all the three months that he was in the show.
When Prince Narula was rejected by three ladies before he found a partner in Rochelle Rao to enter the Bigg Boss house, it seemed like his journey would not extend beyond a few weeks. But within a few days, the duo was pegged as the strongest pair inside the house. Renamed as the ‘Paratha King’ of the house for his culinary skills, Prince treated every task like a matter of life and death and completed it with utmost conviction.
Let’s take a look at some of Prince’s most interesting moments in the show.
1. Suyyash Rai bromance
Suyyash Rai and Kishwar Merchant were among the first housemates who took a liking to Prince. Our man did not lose much time in realising the strength of a good relation on a show where he had to spend three months. Over time, however, his bromance with Suyyash had new connotations with Salman Khan teasing the duo every weekend. After Bigg Boss swapped partners, bringing Suyyash and Prince together, the duo was unseparable.
2. Love for Yuvika Chaudhary
Right from the starting, Prince found his first target, Yuvika. He proposed to her with a heart-shaped parantha. Unfortunately, Yuvika was evicted the same week. Prince later claimed his feelings were genuine. Though he moved on after a few wildcard entries in the house, Yuvika clearly had not: When she visited the house as a guest last week, she was clearly disappointed with new romance brewing between Nora and Prince.
3. Celebrating ‘Rakhi’ with Kishwar Merchant
The close bond that Kishwar, Prince and Suyyash had built inside the house within days unsettled everybody else. They branded it groupism but the trio couldn’t care less. Prince and Kishwar even claimed that they were brother-sister, a relation Kishwar definitely maintained till she lasted on the show.
4. Fight with Rishabh Sinha
One of the many (winning?) traits of Prince Narula is his penchant to pick up a fight with practically anybody. Wild card entrant Rishabh Sinha, however, was one of his favourite targets. Be it eyeing the same girl (Yuvika) or creating a ruckus over who works more, he never spared Rishabh.
5. Proposal for Nora Fatehi
When Nora Fatehi entered the show, Prince instantly liked her and began flirting with her. He even protected her and when given an opportunity, took her out for a date where he gifted her a ring.
6. The final stroke
Tricking Kishwar into quitting the game was both the worst and best thing Prince did in his entire stint inside the Bigg Boss house. While it was a good strategy to ensure the strongest contender was eliminated from his compettition, it was in bad taste considering he called Kishwar his sister.
