Actor Karishma Tanna doesn’t give two hoots about what people say about her personal life. She believes that an actor has two lives – reel and real – and they’ll always be required to juggle the two. “It feels terrible when your personal life becomes the focus leaving everything else behind, but you can’t help it. If there’s something exciting going on in my personal life, people will gossip about it, and the moment I sign a project – a film or a show – that becomes the talking point,” says Karishma, who created a lot of buzz after she was linked with actor Upen Patel on reality show Bigg Boss (season 8).
While the two shared a great chemistry inside the house, they didn’t shy away from making it public even after the show wrapped up. UpMa, as they were fondly called by their fans, even took their relationship to the next level when they participated on dance reality show Nach Baliye (season 7), where Upen proposed to Karishma on national television and they got engaged. But things turned sour and the two soon parted ways.
On whether thinking about all this upsets her, Karishma shares, “That’s a part of your life. I don’t know what future holds, so I live in the present moment. Definitely, I was hopeful and positive about a lot of things but if they didn’t happen, there must have been for a reason for that. It’s very difficult to accept the fact, but then you have to move on in life.”
However, pictures of their London holiday and their romantic moments went viral on social media. Ask her why she chose to be so vocal about her personal life then, Karishma says that it was all in the moment. “It all started on Bigg Boss — a platform where you’re living for the masses for four months, and everything about you becomes public. So whatever was there between me and Upen was just an extension to what initially started inside the Bigg Boss house in front of the crowd and 145 cameras. Otherwise I’ve never been vocal about my private life and if given a chance, I would want to undo everything and keep my personal life my own.”

{{/usCountry}}Of late, Upen has been putting up a lot of cryptic tweets on his timelines and tagging Karishma in them. On being prodded about the same, Karishma maintains a silence and says, “Well, I would just give you a smiling reaction here. I won’t talk about it because I’m happy where I am.”
Meanwhile, Karishma clears that she is absolutely single and is still waiting for the right man to come into her life. “I’ve been in the industry for around 14 years and I’m yet to meet someone who is compatible with me and smiles with me. I just want a nice human being.”
