Sasural Simar Ka makers have figured out how to keep the TRPs coming – copy ideas from across the world and make them so inane that audience has its breath taken away. Like sending the bahu to Pataal Lok, making her fight with an icchadhari peacock or the latest insanity – turning her into a fly!

The show had everyone’s attention a few weeks ago when it copied a Game of Thrones trailer. This week, it broke a new record.

The saas-bahu saga, starring Dipika Kakar and Avika Gor in lead roles, turned into a supernatural fantasy drama two years ago when they decided that mortal human beings are way too boring to keep the audience hooked on for years. (Yes, people have been watching this drama for years. They had things like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi -- eight years running -- as reference point). So they had icchadhari naagins, ghosts and ‘daayans’ thrown in to add to the grandeur.

Guess what’s the worst part? It isn’t even an original idea. The 2012 Telugu hit Eega, which was renamed in Hindi as Makkhi -- had a similar plot.
