The third trailer for Sherlock: The Abominable Bride was released online recently and the new video reveals how the January 1st special puts the chills up Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman’s spine.

Usually set in the present day, this New Year’s special transports detective Sherlock Holmes (Benedict) and his willing aide Dr Watson (Martin) back to the 1890s, traditional territory for the Arthur Conan Doyle characters, as part of an investigation into some ghostly goings on.
The 43-second-long video begins with Sherlock’s voice saying, “The stage is set, the curtain rises. We’re ready to begin.” A veiled person then enters the frame even as Cumberbatch’s voice continues, “The avenging ghost.” Is Moriarty the ‘Abominable Bride’ in the new season? Well, there are more hints in the trailer to suggest it might actually be him. At least two characters, including Dr Watson’s, say, “You were dead, it cannot be true,” even as they stare at the veiled person. Is it a ghost from the Victorian era? Moriarty’s ghost? The mystery will only be solved this New Year when Sherlock debuts the latest season.
