Colombian President Gustavo Petro has urged Colombians living abroad to return home, saying “people live better in Colombia,” while accusing Argentina, Chile and the United States of adopting increasingly harsh migration policies. Speaking in a nationally broadcast address from Bogotá, Petro warned that political changes in those countries were harming migrant families. He highlighted Colombia’s expanded support for migrants and cited the return of thousands from the US as proof of a more humane approach, insisting Colombia is not a xenophobic country.
