Another US carrier on high alert as Houthis seize Bab el-Mandeb

The USS George Washington is operating on heightened alert in the Arabian Sea as Houthi forces advance along Yemen’s Red Sea coast toward Bab el-Mandeb, a critical shipping chokepoint. Houthi forces have reportedly reached Perim—also known as Mayyun—after Yemeni government forces withdrew, giving the group a foothold at the heart of the strait.
