China practices hitting U.S warships with ballistic missiles as Xi ups the ante

China has created a string of facilities to practice naval ship targeting with long-range ballistic missiles. The United States Naval Institute (USNI) news report flagged 'a great wall of naval targets' in Taklamakan desert. Satellite pics revealed a string of large-scale target ranges running along the eastern edge of the desert. Several of the target ranges are reportedly naval and two have layouts that appear to be modeled on ships in port. 8 miles southwest of a ship layout, a site with full-scale piers & a destroyer-sized ship-like target built in December. A missile struck one of the targets at the facility in February; the model was disassembled & taken away. Another target found - the pier layout is similar to the destroyer-like site, and it also includes ship targets.
