Deputy Superintendent of Police probing illegal stone-mining killed in Haryana. The DSP signalled a truck to halt, but the driver sped on, running over him. Haryana DSP mowed down by mining mafia; a narrow escape for two other policemen. The deceased DSP had gone to conduct raids to stop illegal mining in Aravalli hills. DSP Surendra Singh was recruited 1994 and was to retire in a few months.
