TMC alleges booth rigging; BJP says 'voting peaceful' I Tripura Civic Polls

- As voting for Tripura civic polls were underway, TMC & CPIM accused the ruling BJP of rigging. In a video tweeted on its official handle, TMC Tripura alleged a man 'voting' for others. Meanwhile, SC directed MHA to immediately provide additional CAPF to secure polling booths. SC clarified that CAPF personnel will remain deployed in securing ballot boxes till results. Elections for over 200 seats in municipal bodies of Tripura were held on Thursday. A total of 770 polling stations were established across the state for civic polls. BJP Tripura, on the other hand, put up videos of ‘peaceful voting’ on Twitter. BJP won 112 seats uncontested in Agartala Municipal Corporation & 19 urban local bodies earlier this month. Elections for remaining 222 seats were held today and the counting of votes will take place on Nov 28. There are a total of 334 seats in the 20 urban local bodies in Tripura.
