Chapecoense football club air disaster: Anniversary of the fatal crash
It’s exactly an year since Brazil’s Chapecoense football club was all but wiped out in an air crash on their way to play the game of their lives. The minnows of Brazilian football made history by reaching the final of the regional Copa Sudamericana, a big occasion for a humble, scrappy little outfit from southern Brazil. But the excited players and coaches flew to Colombia, and to their deaths when the plane ran out of fuel on November 28, 2016. Of 77 people aboard, 71 were killed, including 19 players, 14 coaching staff, nine managers and 20 journalists. A year down, the club has picked themselves up now, and is winning again (Video credit: Perform).
