  • The defence forces recruitment scheme 'Agnipath', which had drawn nation-wide protests, has attracted more applications in the Indian Air Force (IAF) this year than it did in the last recruitment drive. The IAF said 7,49,899 future 'Agniveers' have applied under 'Agnipath'. IAF also said that the online application window for the scheme is finally closed, and has received a tremendous response from aspirants. As per reports, Army aspirants are also asking IAF and the defence ministry to extend the application deadline. Meanwhile, 10000 women have applied under 'Agnipath' in the Indian Navy. Up to 20% of candidates that the navy plans to recruit under the government's new scheme for short-term induction of soldiers are expected to be women. Watch this video for more information.
