Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum pushes back against Donald Trump’s threats of using U.S. forces in Latin America, insisting that Mexico’s cooperation with Washington is one of “coordination without subordination” rooted in mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and shared responsibility, and stressing that any continent‑wide economic project from Canada to Patagonia must be built through dialogue, development and expanded trade—not armed interventions or control of other nations’ natural resources. She recalls firmly rejecting Trump’s repeated suggestions that U.S. troops could enter Mexico, underscores that Mexico is a free, independent and sovereign country whose people would unite against any foreign intervention, and says that while Mexico seeks a calm, constructive partnership with its powerful neighbour for the good of Mexicans on both sides of the border, it will never accept invasions or the use of force as a tool of regional policy.
