France has entered the long-range attack drone race with IRIFI, a one-way strike weapon unveiled by defence technology company Harmattan AI. The drone is advertised with a range of nearly 2,000 kilometres and is designed to navigate without GPS, potentially allowing it to operate in environments where electronic warfare disrupts satellite signals. According to reports, IRIFI combines onboard navigation, terminal visual guidance and autonomous mission execution, with human operators approving mission parameters before deployment. Morocco has signed a letter of intent to develop the drone, signalling ambitions to expand its domestic defence industry. Harmattan AI’s chief described IRIFI as combining the scalability of Shahed-style drones with the precision of cruise missiles. However, its advertised range, accuracy, payload and combat survivability remain unverified, with no publicly released full-range test results.
