Justice SA Bobde takes oath as 47th CJI, succeeds Ranjan Gogoi

Sharad Arvind Bobde took oath as the new Chief Justice of India. Bobde was sworn-in by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Bobde succeeded Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the 47th Chief Justice of India. He was part of the 5-judge constitution bench that delivered the Ayodhya verdict. Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde will have a tenure of little over 18 months. SA Bobde is the eighth chief justice from the state of Maharashtra.
