Manipur Polls: Irom Sharmila, senior citizens, specially-abled cast vote

Iron lady of Manipur Irom Sharmila was seen casting her ballot in Imphal East of Manipur on Saturday. Sharmila, who fasted for nearly 16 years, is contesting from Thoubal constituency to improve the welfare of the poor people of the state. 10% voter turnout has been recorded in the first hour of the Manipur first phase elections. As polling for the first phase of the Manipur assembly elections 2017 is underway, senior citizens, as well as specially-abled citizens, came out to cast their ballot. The first phase will cover 38 constituencies for which 1,643 polling stations have been set up in districts spread over Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and the hill districts of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi.
