UP Elections: Dust becomes major issue for this UP village

Updated on Mar 11, 2017 10:16 am IST

More than 25000 people living in villages at a stretch of about 8 kilometers along the road connecting business town Gopiganj on national highway 2 to Mirzapur, the abode of deity Vindhyavasini start their day battling a blanket of dust and go to bed warding off dust. This has been a part and parcel of their life for about six months now. Mirzapur goes to polls on March 8 in the last phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh. The problem, as say the villagers, has a political reason behind it. Locals believe, when Samajwadi Party denied a ticket to the wife of Vijay Mishra, SP MLA from Gyanpur, Bhadohi district, the construction work on the road came to a halt as it is the MLA who has the contract for construction of the road. However, Vijay Mishra on his part rubbished the allegations.
