BJP slams Gogoi for making controversial remark about Muslims

The BJP has today slammed Assam chief Tarun Gogoi for saying that Muslims bear more children due to illiteracy. In an interview to a private news channel, Gogoi had said the high illiteracy level among the Muslims is responsible for their growing population in the state. Another BJP senior leader Kalraj Mishra said that the Congress wanted to create divide between Hindus and Muslims. A Muslim cleric Khalid Rashid also attacked the Congress for the alleged failure to combat ethnic violence in the state which claimed nearly 90 lives and displaced 4,00,000 people.
