Militant threats make J-K village heads quit post

Apprehending threats from militants, village council heads of several villages in Jammu and Kashmir have been compelled to quit their posts. Ghulam Muhammad, a village headman said that they wanted the government to intervene and provide them assured security. Meanwhile, the police assured all protection against possible militant attacks. According to the villagers, the militants have asked the village body heads to quit. Reportedly, the threats were issued through posters, asking the village council chiefs to resign within a week's time.
