UPA to approach SC on quota issue

United Progressive Alliance government on Friday decided to approach the apex court to suspend its stay on quota policy. The apex court had last month stayed the implementation of the reservations and called on the government to provide more accurate data on numbers and the educational status of targeted lower caste groups -- labeled as "Other Backward Classes" (OBCs) before moving ahead with new quotas.
