Watch: Toxic froth in Bengaluru river continues to plague residents

Updated on Sep 30, 2015 04:48 pm IST

Residents residing near the Yamlur Lake in Bengaluru on Tuesday said not much had changed and the water body continued to produce froth. Ironically, Bengaluru was declared the cleanest capital city in the country last month. The thick white foam, which looks like snow, was a result of toxic industrial pollutants dumped into the lake by nearby service stations and garages. The strong stench from the lake has not only made life miserable for residents in nearby areas, but also poses several health hazards. Locals alleged that the administration had assured them of prompt action a few months ago when the condition of the lake was highlighted in the media. But not much has been done since to restore the health of the lake.
