Indian Army goes for 4X4 overhaul: Looks beyond iconic Gypsy to Safari, Scorpio
Published on May 25, 2022 09:46 pm IST
India is on the lookout for around 1,500 4x4 light vehicles to serve in the Army, Air Force and Navy. The 4x4 will be used in general service role in hills, snowbound areas, plains, deserts & any other terrain. Therefore, the vehicle should be able to perform at least 5,000m above the mean sea level (MSL). The payload suggests the military is looking for vehicle larger than the iconic Maruti Gypsy. Indian-made vehicles like the Tata Safari Storme, Mahindra Scorpio or Force Motors TRAX may fit the bill.
