Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal used his Saturday press conference to unpack the India–US interim trade agreement, focusing on what it delivers on tariffs and market access. He outlined which Indian exports will enjoy zero or sharply reduced duties in the US — including high‑value sectors like gems, smartphones and pharmaceuticals, along with farm products such as spices, tea, coffee, copra and coconut oil — and argued that this will make Indian goods more competitive globally while boosting incomes for exporters, farmers and MSMEs.
