Iran finds sweet-gas jackpot: Will Tehran's multi-billion-dollar find blunt Trump’s sanctions war?

Iran has unveiled a massive natural-gas discovery just as Donald Trump's administration prepares what Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has called its toughest sanctions yet. Tehran says the field in southern Fars Province contains more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, including over 5.7 trillion cubic feet considered recoverable. Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad says the sweet-gas reserves could generate tens of billions of dollars in new wealth while lowering development costs. The announcement also comes as Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir arrives in Tehran. Can Iran turn this jackpot into a sanctions lifeline?
