As the US–Iran ceasefire nears its April 22 expiry, Donald Trump faces growing pressure to rethink his risky Strait of Hormuz blockade. After a US Navy seizure of an Iranian‑flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman, Tehran has vowed retaliation, accusing Washington of “bullying and unreasonable behaviour” and warning the move could derail diplomacy. At the same time, Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir has urged Trump to ease the blockade, calling it a major obstacle to renewed US–Iran talks in Islamabad, even as Iran signals it will skip the next round. Is Trump now preparing to back down in Hormuz, or doubling down on a showdown that could shatter the fragile truce?
