Globally, around 67 minutes of online videos are watched daily by a user. The amount of energy consumed to power this depends on the type of transmission. Fibre optics consume the least energy, while 5G technology comes second, and 3G comes third by a huge margin. To generate power for 1 hour of online video streaming via fibre optics, a person would have cycle for 11 seconds. To do this via 5G technology, 1 minute and 40 seconds of cycling is required, while with 3G technology, 48 minutes and 48 seconds of cycling is needed.
