AAP vs BJP battle escalates as MP Manoj Tiwari performs Puja at Yamuna Ghat

BJP parliamentarian Manoj Tiwari reached Yamuna ghat to perform Chhath Puja. Tiwari arrived at the ghat despite a DDMA order prohibiting rituals at public places. The BJP leader hit out at the Kejriwal govt for 'stopping people from celebrating Chhath' on the banks. “Chhath Puja is being celebrated in Haryana as well as Noida. It's only in Delhi that restrictions are in place & people are not allowed to celebrate. Had Covid been the reason, markets & malls would have been shut by now. Wherever Chhath Puja is being performed, people are following Covid norms. I agree that we didn't follow the Delhi Disaster Management Authority order. We had requested them to allow us, but they didn't, so we had to do this,” he said. DDMA had released an order on September 30 prohibiting Chhath celebrations in public. It, however, amended its order a month later after serious backlash from BJP. Amended order allowed celebrations to be held in designated spaces with Covid protocols. The amended order released by DDMA on October 28 banned celebrations along the Yamuna.
