Asaduddin Owaisi reacts to Yogi's population policy for UP, cites Constitution

• Asaduddin Owaisi slammed UP CM Yogi Adityanath over the population control bill. The AIMIM chief opposed the UP population control bill & said it violates Article 21. Owaisi said Modi govt had in Dec 2020 affidavit said there can't be a two-child policy. The Hyderabad MP added that this was due to the declining Total Fertility Rate (TFR). “Modi government said there can't be a two-child policy due to declining TFR. The TFR reduced to 2.2 since the National Population Policy was introduced in 2000. Yogi govt's population control bill violates Article 21 of the Constitution,” he said. On July 11, UP CM Adityanath unveiled the state's new Population Policy 2021-2030. The population policy was unveiled on the occasion of World Population Day.
