Bengal Train Crash: System Defective, Says Report, But Railways Says Driver 'Disregarded' Signal

At least 15 people were killed and around 50 injured in the Kanchenjunga train accident that has once again raised concerns over railway safety in India. According to PTI, the signalling system between two stations, where the accident took place, was defective for hours before the mishap took place. Meanwhile, the Railways said that the driver of the goods train, which rammed into the express train, had disregarded the signal following which the accident took place.
