Election Commission announces poll dates For Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam & Puducherry

The Election Commission of India has officially announced the schedule for Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. The elections are set to take place in April 2026, with counting for all states scheduled on May 4, 2026. Polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam and 140 constituencies in Kerala will take place in a single phase on April 9, 2026. The Union Territory of Puducherry will also go to the polls on the same day. In Tamil Nadu, voting for all 234 Assembly constituencies will be conducted in one phase on April 23, 2026. Meanwhile, West Bengal, which has 294 Assembly constituencies, will witness two phases of polling due to security considerations. The first phase covering 152 constituencies will take place on April 23, while the second phase for 142 constituencies will be held on April 29.
