A supertanker carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil reportedly caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz after striking a sea mine, according to claims surrounding the incident. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the vessel was travelling along an “unauthorized” route with its navigation and radar systems switched off, allegedly under US military support. Tehran also reiterated its claim that the strategic waterway remains closed, raising fresh concerns over global oil shipments and maritime security.
