'Equality' vs 'haste': Bill to raise marriage of women in LS amid oppn protests

Centre on Tuesday introduced prohibition of child marriage (amendment) bill 2021 in Lok Sabha which proposes raising of women legal marriage to 21 from 18. However the opposition strongly opposed the bill, alleging it was brought in haste and without consulting stakeholders. There was a massive faceoff between opposition members and Women and Child development minister Smriti Irani in the House. The government has recommended to refer the bill to the Parliamentary Standing Committee. Watch how the faceoff unfolded.
