Himachal landslide: Death toll rises, many still feared trapped; CM visits site

- More bodies were recovered from the landslide site in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur. Officials said the death toll mounted to 14 as the search operation resumed on Thursday. An HRTC bus & other vehicles were buried under the debris after the landslide. According to the State Disaster Management, a Bolero car still could not be traced. The bus was on its way from Reckong Peo to Haridwar via Shimla when it was hit by boulders. Accident occurred on Wednesday near Chaura village on NH-5 in Nigulsari of Nichar tehsil. Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur conducted an aerial survey of the landslide-hit area and visited the site to review the rescue operation. NDRF, ITBP, local police & home guards have been carrying out the rescue operation. Several are still feared buried under the debris, however, the exact number was not known. A 30-seater bus, a truck and four cars were among the vehicles that came under the rubble.
