- Family members of missing CoBRA jawan urged govt to take action and ensure his release. This comes after Maoists claimed that the missing CoBRA commando is in their custody. Maoists also sought the appointment of a mediator to whom he could be handed over. Constable Rakeshwar Singh Manhas went missing after the gunfight along Chhattisgarh’s Sukma-Bijapur border. Meanwhile, Rakeshwar’s family along with locals blocked the Jammu-Akhnoor highway. Demanding his release, the family alleged that neither the Centre nor the state governments are taking action to bring the jawan back. The CoBRA jawan was part of a squad that had gone for an anti-Naxal operation on Friday. As many as 22 security personnel were killed and 31 others were injured in the fierce gunbattle.
