India fumes over Jammu & Kashmir mention in China-Pak joint statement; ‘No other country has…’

India has strongly rejected references to Jammu & Kashmir in the latest China-Pakistan joint statement, calling the remarks “unwarranted” and reaffirming that J&K and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India. The statement was issued after talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif, with India’s External Affairs Ministry asserting that no other country has the locus standi to comment on its internal matters. New Delhi also sharply criticised references to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), reiterating its opposition to projects passing through territory under Pakistan’s illegal occupation, calling them a violation of India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
