'India leading world in…': PM Modi on startup boom in India | Mann Ki Baat

Asserting that this is an era of start-ups, PM Modi said India is leading the world in this field. PM Modi added that more than 70 start-ups have crossed the valuation of USD 1 billion. The Prime Minister was addressing the 83rd episode of his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast. “It is true that this is the era of start-ups & India is leading the world in this field,” he said. “A unicorn is a privately held start-up company valued at over USD 1 billion. Till the year 2015, there used to be hardly nine or ten Unicorns in the country. In just 10 months, a unicorn is being raised in India every 10 days. Today, there are more than 70 Unicorns in India,” he added. In his broadcast, PM Modi noted that in Dec, Navy Day & Armed Forces Flag Day are celebrated. PM Modi also noted that Dec 16 will mark the Golden Jubilee year of the victory in the 1971 War.
