Indian space sector now open for private players; Two start-ups authorised

In a historic decision, India has officially opened up the space sector for private players. The Indian Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has authorised two Indian start-ups, marking the beginning of private space sector launches in the country. Hyderabad's Dhruva Space and Bengaluru's Digantara research & technologies have been authorised by IN-SPACe to launch payloads. On Sunday, PM Modi hailed the growth in this sector and said India has over 100 space start-ups. The nod to these firms is just the start of India's big leap in the space sector.
