Narendra Modi government is all set to table a bill in the Parliament seeking to raise the legal age for marriage of women to 21 from 18 in the country. The proposal was cleared by the Union Cabinet and is set to be tabled in the both houses of the Parliament this winter session. The age bar for marriage men in India is 21 and the government is seeking to bring the uniformity by raising the age of marriage for women. However the decision has evoked mixed response.
