As the Parliament concludes Monsoon Session, a fierce faceoff has erupted between the government and opposition over a Bill that was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. It pushes legislation that will exclude the Chief Justice of India from the process to appoint the country's top election officers. As per the Bill, top Election Commission officers including the Chief Election Commissioner shall be appointed by a panel consisting of the Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and a Union Cabinet Minister. The opposition says the Bill is weakening India's democracy and is an attempt to rig the 2024 elections. Watch this video for details.
