Mumbai grinds to a halt! schools shut, trains hit by rain, IMD warns of extremely heavy rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad, warning of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 4. The weather department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain along with gusty winds reaching 50–60 kmph, urging residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel. Mumbai has already recorded significant rainfall this season, with Santacruz and Colaba observatories reporting well above last year's figures for the same period. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation also recorded widespread heavy rainfall across the city and suburbs over the past 24 hours.
