Gandhi also called for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Home Minister Amit Shah. The Congress leader's remarks came after Opposition parties staged a sit-in outside PM Modi's residence on July 21, alleging that the government was unwilling to allow a parliamentary debate on the police action against protesting students and youth. The protesters were later detained by Delhi Police. A video recorded during Gandhi's detention at Chhatrasal Stadium showed him wearing only one shoe, with his other foot bare, in visuals that emerged after the protests.
