'Oppressed, humiliated': Ashwani Kumar on why he dumped Congress after 40 years

The exodus of big faces from Congress is far from over. In a fresh setback earlier this week, Gandhi loyalist and veteran party leader Ashwani Kumar quit the Congress, saying the grand old party is no more what it was earlier. Kumar, a former Union Law Minister, has been a Congress member for more than 40 years. In an interview to Hindustan Times, Ashwani Kumar lashed out at the Congress top brass, accusing it of humiliating and oppressing the party leaders. He went on to say that the degeneration of Congress started much during the Emergency period and targeted Rahul Gandhi for his failure to consolidate the party.
