West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has intensified her attack on the BJP ahead of the assembly elections, alleging misuse of central agencies and security forces. Speaking about an incident at Dum Dum airport, Banerjee claimed that central forces approached her vehicle for checking, raising questions over what she called “selective targeting” of TMC leaders. She argued that if her vehicle can be checked, then similar checks should apply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP leaders as well. Banerjee accused the BJP of undermining the Constitution and attempting to destabilize Bengal, warning that arrests of TMC leaders could trigger mass protests. She also alleged that central ministers were bringing money into the state during the election period. Responding to her remarks, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh defended the Election Commission’s authority, stating that security agencies have the right to check anyone, including the Chief Minister. He also stressed the need for strict action against those responsible for post-poll violence in previous elections to prevent unrest.
