What Joe Biden told new Japan PM on dispute with China over Senkaku islands

Soon after Fumio Kishida took charge as Japan's new Prime Minister, he had a significant phone call with the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden. The two discussed regional security issues stemming from China's belligerence and North Korea's provocations in the East China Sea and the Indo-Pacific. Kishida reportedly told reporters that Biden reiterated US' commitment to defend the Senkaku Islands, called Diaoyutai by the Chinese. The islands in the East China Sea are a source of dispute between Beijing and Tokyo. Meanwhile, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Kishida on taking up the top job. India, Japan, USA, and Australia are part of the Quad, which is seen as a counterweight to China in the Indo-Pacific. Watch the full video for more.
