‘When our desire for peace is mistaken…’: Indian military’s warning on Operation Sindoor anniversary
Published on May 07, 2026 04:49 pm IST
Operation Sindoor marked a defining moment in India’s strategic and military doctrine, former DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said during a press conference marking one year of the operation. Reflecting on the anniversary, Lt Gen Ghai stated that the operation represented a decisive shift in India’s approach towards cross-border terrorism, as Indian forces targeted terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and the international border with Pakistan. He said Operation Sindoor was conducted with a “conscious and coherent” strategy, signalling India’s willingness to move beyond its earlier methods in responding to terror threats. The operation, launched after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, saw Indian armed forces strike multiple terror camps and launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
