No stalls for Muslim traders at historic festival after right-wing campaign

Karnataka festival has reportedly banned Muslim traders after a campaign by right-wing groups. Kote Marikamba Jatra, a biennial festival, is held around the Marikamba temple in Karnataka's Shivamogga. The Karnataka festival attracts lakhs of people from neighbouring cities and districts. Residents say Muslims & Christians also offer Harake, an offering to the deity for fulfillment of a wish. The 'no stalls for Muslims' decision has reportedly upset a section of Shivamogga residents.
