Paris Olympics 2024: For the first time in a century, Paris is hosting the Summer Olympics, with events centered around the city’s most iconic landmarks. With a contingent of 117 athletes, India will aim to surpass their best-ever medal tally at the Olympics. India bagged seven medals, including one gold, two silver and four bronze, in the Tokyo Olympics. Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha and Chef-de-Mission Gagan Narang have given top priority to athletes in the composition of the contingent in the Parade of Nations. Star shuttler PV Sindhu and seasoned table tennis star Sharath Kamal were the flagbearers for India in the opening ceremony. The grand opening ceremony on Friday featured boats transporting athletes and dignitaries along 6 kilometers of the River Seine, accommodating up to 300,000 spectators. The Games will run until August 11. India aims to surpass its seven-medal haul from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which included one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.
