- The Pentagon has declassified and made public the video of a US drone strike in Afghanistan’s Kabul in August 2021. The strike that took place in August 29 last year took place resulted in the deaths of 10 innocent civilians, including 7 children. The attack was in retaliation for a 2021 airport attack carried out by the Islamic State. The footage was obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed against the US Central Command by the New York Times. In the 25-minute footage, it can be seen that two MQ-9 Reaper drones flew above the site, prior to, during, and after a missile impacted a civilian car in a courtyard on a residential street. Individuals moving in or near the attack zone can also be seen in the video. 3 days before the Kabul airstrike, a suicide explosion at the airport had killed 13 US troops and more than 160 Afghans. Central Command later admitted that the individual driving the car had nothing to do with the IS organization. Watch for more details
