Since the 2007 assembly election, ten districts in the critical Eastern Uttar Pradesh region have changed political colours several times, each time supporting the ultimate winner in the assembly elections. According to analysts, a strong performance in the region is a lucky charm for political parties. There are 61 assembly seats in these ten districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh. This trend began in the 2007 assembly election, when voters in Purvanchal backed the BSP, which gained 37 seats in the region and 206 seats overall. The SP won 18 seats in the region that year, while the BJP only got four. Locals claim that the BSP was unable to sustain its link with the people of this region and others for five years because it fell short of their expectations. So what impact will Purvanchal have on the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections? Catch this highlight from Poll Baazi.
